Why Over-Fertilizing Burns Plant Roots (Osmotic Pressure Science)
Fertilizers are concentrated mineral salts. When applied in too high a concentration, the high salt density in the soil creates **negative osmotic potential**, pulling moisture *out* of root cells and into the soil. This dehydrates root tips and causes permanent brown necrotic leaf margins.
Always dilute commercial indoor liquid fertilizers to **half strength (1/2)** or **quarter strength (1/4)** during active growth, and water soil with plain water first.
